Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum criteria for applications?

Applicants should have a minimum of 320 UCAS points from a maximum of three full A Levels (excluding General Studies) and have gained or expect to gain a 2:1 or higher degree classification.

Do you still consider applicants that don’t meet the minimum criteria?

We consider the merits of all applications individually and will take into account mitigating circumstances.

Do you prefer candidates to come from a law or non–law degree background?

We recruit from a broad range of degree backgrounds and welcome both graduate and undergraduate applications.

Do you mind where I do my GDL/LPC?

We have an exclusive arrangement with The University of Law for the provision of GDL and LPC courses to our future trainees, but we do not mind if you have already completed either course elsewhere.

I need a work permit to work in the U.K. Will this affect my application?

The law states that in order to obtain a work permit on your behalf, Forsters would have to prove that we had been unable to recruit somebody with a ‘resident worker’ status. Although we consider all applications individually, applicants should note that we receive many applications from ‘resident workers’ that match our requirements as a firm.

What is the recruitment process for training contracts?

Once the deadline has passed, all applications will be reviewed by the graduate recruitment panel. Candidates will then be shortlisted and invited to attend an assessment day and if you are successful at this stage, you will be invited back for a second round interview. Please note that both the assessment days and second round interviews will take place in August and candidates will be advised as to what to expect prior to attending them.

What is the recruitment process for the vacation scheme?

Once the deadline has passed, all applications will be reviewed by the graduate recruitment panel. Candidates will then be shortlisted and invited to attend an assessment day. Please note that there is only one stage to this process and that candidates will be advised as to what to expect prior to attending one of the assessment days.

Do you offer financial assistance?

If you are offered a training contract, we will sponsor you through the GDL/LPC and provide you with a maintenance grant of £5,500 per year of study from the date of your offer. We do not sponsor students retrospectively.

Do you hold open days?

Open days are held at intervals throughout the year. Any planned open days will be advertised on the 'Open Days' page.
