What is the minimum criteria for applications?Applicants should have a minimum of 320 UCAS points from a maximum of three full A Levels (excluding General Studies) and have gained or expect to gain a 2:1 or higher degree classification.
Do you still consider applicants that don’t meet the minimum criteria?
We consider the merits of all applications individually and will take into account any mitigating circumstances.
Do you prefer candidates to come from a law or non – law degree background?
We recruit from a broad range of degree backgrounds and welcome both graduate and undergraduate applications.
Do you mind where I do my GDL/ LPC?
The choice of institution is down to you however we would recommend you choose somewhere that has a good reputation and a strong resource centre.
When choosing your electives, although we encourage you to choose subjects that you are interested in, it may be worth bearing in mind the practice areas of the firm and that some electives may be more useful to you than others when it comes to starting your training contract.
I need a work permit to work in the U.K - will this affect my application?
The law states that in order to obtain a work permit on your behalf, Forsters would have to prove that we had been unable to recruit somebody with a ‘resident worker’ status. Although we consider all applications individually, applicants should note that we receive many applications from ‘resident workers’ that match our requirements as a firm.
What is the recruitment process for training contracts?
Once the deadline has closed, all applications are read and evaluated against each other. If your application is successful you will be invited to an interview with two partners on our graduate recruitment panel. There are two rounds of interviews after which successful applicants will be offered a training contract. There are no formal assessments as part of the recruitment process although you may be asked to give presentations and analyse legal articles during your interviews.
What is the recruitment process for the vacation scheme?

If your application is successful you will be invited to an interview with two partners on our graduate recruitment panel. There is only one round of interviews and no formal assessment takes place as part of this recruitment process.
When would I need to be available for interview?
Interviews for training contracts are held during the month of August with first interviews being held over the first two weeks and second interviews following on from them. All interviewing will be completed by the end of August with offers going out at the beginning of September in line with the Law Society guidelines.
Do you offer financial assistance?
If you are offered a training contract, we will sponsor you through the GDL/ LPC and provide a maintenance grant of £5,000 for each year that you are studying towards the GDL/ LPC from the date of your offer. We do not sponsor students retrospectively.
Do you hold Open Days?
Open Days are held at intervals throughout the year. Any planned open days will be advertised on our website.
